Coronavirus Update 01.15.21

Dear Residents and Families,

Today, the Marin County Health Department has deemed Aldersly to no longer have an active COVID-19 Outbreak. The outbreak, primarily in our Assisted Living area, impacted staff and residents as many were hospitalized or required intense treatments, including 5 resident deaths. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of our beloved residents. Our thoughts and prayers are with their family and friends during this difficult time.

We understand the emotional and physical exhaustion this pandemic has brought to our community, but we must not lose our resolve in the face of this challenge. We are confident that maintaining our aggressive preventative measures, which have been established and validated by trusted public health agencies, combined with the roll-out of the COVID-19 vaccine in our community will help us get through this challenging moment in time.

The Aldersly team will continue working with CVS Pharmacy and the Marin County Health Department to vaccinate the community staff and residents. Our next vaccine clinic includes plans to vaccinate our residents and any remaining staff on January 20th (1st & 2nd shots). Additional second shot clinics will be scheduled in the hopes that Aldersly residents and staff will be fully vaccinated by the end of February 2021. We have a deep appreciation of our partners working to get our community fully vaccinated.

Though our community has begun the COVID-19 vaccination process, it is imperative we do not let our guard down against this devastating virus. The rigor of the preventative measures we put in place earlier helped protect our community for 8-9 months. We have now experienced how quickly the virus can spread, once it gets through a crack. Therefore, the preventative measures will remain unchanged until further notice. Please follow our guidelines and call for any clarifications. We will keep you updated as changes occur. Our residents will receive VoiceFriend messages when we make changes and we will update families through the same system via e-mail.

Thank you for committing to keep Aldersly safe. I appreciate the support you give our staff and hope you continue to stay safe.

Warm regards,

Gilbert Carrasco
