Coronavirus Update 3.17.21

Dear Aldersly Family and Friends,

We are very excited to announce that Aldersly is moving into the Phase 3-B Orange Guidelines for reopening beginning on Friday, March 19, 2021. We will continue to follow the COVID-19 guidelines set forth by the Department of Social Services for congregate living communities like Aldersly, and we are looking forward to the following changes.

Visits with fellow residents, family, and.friends. We know that you will all be pleased to hear that vaccinated friends, and family can come and visit you in your apartment. They must have proof of being status-post 2 weeks of complete vaccinations. We ask that your visitors come to the front office to sign in and bring their cards so we can photocopy it for our records. You may also have fellow IL residents that have been vaccinated in your apartment. At this time your friends and family are not allowed in the common areas of Aldersly such as the Dining Room and outside seating areas. We do ask that when visiting a resident you continue to wear masks and practice social distancing.

Off-Campus Travel. We have many services available to prevent the need for residents to go off-campus unnecessarily. However, if a resident does go off-campus, we recommend masks, physical distance and to avoid prolonged exposure with any unknown person for more than 15 minutes. In addition, we will no longer require a 14-day quarantine when you travel off campus but will rely on you to self-monitor during that time and agree to sign an ‘Assumption of COVID-19 Risk and Waiver Form.’ If you are not sure that you have signed one, please contact the Front Office.

Programs and Services. We are excited to say that the size of our group activities will be increased to 25 people with masks and social distancing. Some of our activities are starting to meet inside of Hendrix Hall such as the Drumming Circle. Don’t forget to join one of the Social Hours that are happening on Fridays and Saturdays.

We hope that you are excited about these changes. It has been a long year for everyone, and we appreciate your patience during this time. As Spring continues to bring out the wonderful weather, it will be great to see everyone at Aldersly begin to join together while remaining cautious and safe.
